Parking Ordinances

CALENDAR PARKING: The City of Monroe enforces winter parking regulations from November 15th until March 31st of the following year, from 12:00 midnight to 7:00 AM. What this means is when parking a car on a city street in the evening the vehicle must be parked on the odd or even side of the street which corresponds with the days date. In other words, if you park your car on the street before midnight, it must be on the odd/even side for the next day's date. The odd or even side of the street is determined by the house numbers on that side of the street. There are also certain areas around the square that have been designated as snow routes where vehicles will be ticketed if parked in these areas when 2 or more inches of snow fall.

SQUARE CLEANING: Parking on the outside of the square is prohibited from 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM on every Friday from May 1 to October 1 for cleaning of the square. Vehicles parked there will be ticketed.

LARGE VEHICLE OR TRAILER PARKING: It is unlawful to park any trailer or any vehicle licensed for a gross weight of 16000 pounds or more on any city street from 12:00 midnight to 7:00 AM, any day of the week including Saturday and Sunday.

48 HOUR PARKING: It is unlawful to leave any vehicle parked on any city street for more than 48 consecutive hours. Any vehicle parked over the 48 hour limit will be tagged and then towed, at the owners expense.

VEHICLES OR TRAILERS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY: It is unlawful to park any travel trailer or camper in the front yard of a residence. It is also unlawful to park any motor vehicle in a yard except on a paved or gravel surface, in addition vehicles must be registered and must be able to be operable on the street.
