| Welcome to Monroe! Known as the Swiss Cheese Capital of the USA, we are a state line border community of about 11,000 people, located in the beautiful rolling hills of southwestern Wisconsin. We are also the seat of Green County. Our primary industries include agriculture, small manufacturing, mail order sales, ethanol production, and healthcare. Monroe is also home to Minhas Craft Brewery, the second oldest brewery in the nation. The Monroe Police Department provides full service to our community. We provide patrol services, school liaison, DARE instruction, and have a district policing program.
