| Welcome to Monroe! Located in the beautiful rolling hills of southwestern Wisconsin, we are a state line border community of about 11,000 people. Monroe is the seat of Green County, known as the ' Swiss Cheese Capital of the USA! ' Our primary industries also include agriculture, small manufacturing, mail order sales, ethanol production, and healthcare. Monroe is home to Minhas Craft Brewery, the second oldest brewery site in the nation. The Monroe Police Department provides full service to our community, including school liaison, DARE instruction, and a district policing program.
